This lush, complex absolute is delightful.
For those of us that use aromatics for the associations with culture, this is the perfect blending addition for anyone who is creating a perfume bearing in mind India with all her Sacred Mystery.
Cardamom Absolute brings to mind the freshly ground spice. For anyone who works with Cardamom, I want to reassure you I am talking about FRESH Cardamom.
Cardamom seeds become weaker the longer they remain out of their shells. This absolute is so fresh, so deep, so very fragrantly moist smelling, that it reminds me of an Indian kitchen after the moist black Cardamom seeds have been split out of their pods and are being ground for cooking.
And yet, Cardamom is so much more than a culinary scent. This Absolute brings to mind joyous festivals such as Divali, which is coming up.
Divali is the festival of lights which celebrates the inner light of Divine Knowledge.
I can see blending this Cardamom with Sandalwood to allow for a long long lasting support. It would also go quite well with Ginger Root to create a somewhat eyebrow raising base.
If added to Vanilla you would be able to build a perfume that expresses Archetypal Mother energy, or Home, or any blend that honors nurturing.
Because this Absolute is so very complex and complete, you can also play with the middle and top notes of this blend.
As a suggestion for a heart combination, (middle note), a 5% dilution of Ylang would allow it to mellow itself out into the base seamlessly and ornately.
This Cardamom would also be lovely added to Lavender Absolute. I can also see a bit of Ho Leaf or Magnolia Absolute here with the Cardamom.
If you wanted to keep the spicey nature of the Cardamom more tart, playing with Basil might be a lot of fun with his Cardamom. Just make sure you have a nicely sweet material to ensure harmony between the two components. A blend created from those two would honor both happy marriages and The Indian Deities, Shiva & his consort, Parvati.
Cardamom Absolute is a wonderful addition to an adventurous perfumer's palet
