SRA welcomes feedback and
comments from our readers! The Babassu is in! Made my first body cream with it. Luscious to say the least. Added the Babassu to my Shea butter with some Rosehips (Vit C), Calendula Infused, & my essential oil blend of Tangerine Organic, Neroli and Frankincense. This cream was created for my niece Terri. A soon to be Mommy .. she is concerned about 'stretch marks', and her skin was itchy. Whipped up the blend above and I have to say .. I love using it myself. The texture is just like whipped butter. Melts immediately on contact with the skin.. and leaves your skin silky soft. The essential oil blend is light enough for a refreshing uplifting scent that will not overpower the new Mommy's to be. In honor of my niece and all the 'soon to be Mommy's' out there I am calling it 'Baby Belly Balm Cream'. For more information on Babassu, please visit: Well, as they say .. the dog days of summer are upon us. This has been the most miserable summer that I can remember. The heat and humidity has just been horrid. The air quality the worst I can ever remember. The weather globally .. from the floods in Europe to the brown cloud over Asia .. the fires in the South West USA .. What have we done to our Mother Earth? Had my first of the season home grown tomates .. oh yum. The herbs are all in and drying. The night air is full of their scent. Though I have to admit. I am so ready for the first cool breeze of Autumn which is just around the corner. This month is known as the Corn Moon, Red Moon or Sturgeon Moon - this month on August 22nd. Full Sturgeon Moon - The fishing tribes are given credit for the naming of this Moon, since sturgeon, a large fish of the Great Lakes and other major bodies of water, were most readily caught during this month. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because, as the Moon rises, it appears reddish through any sultry haze. It was also called the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon. August was originally called the Sextilis by the Romans. Then later named Augustus in honor of Augustus Caesar. Gathered harvests were celebrated in many lands during this month. August 1st was a Celtic feast called Lunas or Lughnassadh, meaning the celebration of harvest and new grain for bread. In Old English this became Lammas, or "Loaf Mass'. The Romans also had a harvest festival during this month, that of the Consualia, when sacrifices to Consus were made. Consus was the God of the underground storehouse where the grain was kept. Hoping you are having a safe and restful summer.
