In powerful sacred space, at a riverside sanctuary
deep in the enchanted Gila wildlands
(4 hours SW of Albuquerque, NM)
You're invited to a magical Summer weekend at the
Sweet Medicine Women's Center ~
learning how to create your own luxurious herbal body
care products, while exploring what it means to fully love
and tend the sacred self.
Get your hands into essential oils made from healing blossoms,
and aromatic ingredients like grapefruit and orange--
As guest facilitator Tracy Amiel demonstrates how to make luscious natural lotions, bath oils, hair products and scrubs that pamper the Goddess within!
Loba leads discussions and practices that help us to consciously
reinhabit our intuitive, feeling bodies. She inspires us not only to be comfortable with our bodies, but to celebrate our whole selves as bodily extensions of Gaia, the sacred Mother Earth.
Camp together under the sky or in a comfy riverside cabin, making special treats for the hair and skin that you can take home when you go. Enjoy massage, swimming, and thrilling to wondrous wood-fired feasts!
Join Tracy, Loba and other glad sisters in honoring our worthy selves-- in the delightful art of sacred indulgence.
Loba is an inspiring author and presenter living in a special canyon on an ancient place of power, where she hosts women from all over the world for wilderness retreats, quests, medicine sweats, wild foods gathering, and the annual Wild Women's Gathering. Her writings can be found in SageWoman, The Beltane Papers, Talking Leaves and Goddessing.
Tracy Amiel is an alchemist of delightful natural body care recipes, a synergy of sensuality and scent marketed by her company Enchanted Lotus Herbal Creations in Santa Fe. She takes great pleasure in helping other women blend healthful potions that nourish as they reward.

4. Guaiacwood ~
Botanica Name: Bulnesia sarmienti
Country of Origin: Paraguay
Note: Base Note
Method of Extraction: Steam Distillation
Plant part used: tree/heartwood
History/Myth:
Sometimes known as 'Paolo Santo' or 'Holy Tree' indicating possible use in magical/reglious ceremonies. The people of Paraguay however, saw its worth in treatment of serious diseases such as cancer or syphilis - probably due to its 'sweating' properties.
The hardwood is used for carving bowls and other decorative ornaments. Its fixative value is recognised in perfumes and many years ago it was used as an adulterant for Rose Otto. An ingredient of soap when rose compositions are used.
Properties: Antipholgistic, Anti rheumatic, Aprodisiac, Astringent, Balsamic, Laxative.
Mind:
A relaxing, surrending quality helpful for meditation.
Possibly relieves nervous tension.
Body:
Its first-rate sudorific properties help expel impurities of the blood. Has a long standing use for gout and rheumatoid arthritis, particularly helpful where there is inflammation. By the same token, it promotes perspiration with feverish colds, is soothing to the mucous membranes of the throat and may ease tonsilitis.
Could generally have a tonic effect on the bodily fluids, may be helpful with sexual difficulties, ie lack of vaginal secretions during menopause which may lad to painful intercourse. Its earthy and mysterious quality could mean it lives up to its reputation as an aphrodisiac.
Effect on skin:
Seems to tighten tissues and may be of assistance to mature skin.
Blends;
Bergamot, Celery, Elemi, Frankincense, Geranium, Grapefruit, Jasmine, Lavender, Palmarose, Patchouli, Rose, Ylang Ylang.
Retail: 10 ml - $11.50

5. April Fool's Day.!
April is, perhaps, the most fertile month of the year. It replenishes the Earth with its genlte rains (sometimes not so gentle ;o) and brings the sunshine necessary for growth and abundance.
April Showers bring May flowers ! We see it everywhere we look ~
from the greening of trees to the blossomng of the flowers. There is so much activity going on in this month. Bees gather nectar and birds build nests.
Spring has sprung and we feel that urge to open windows and air out the house after the long winter. Its a time to finish up our winter projects and tie up loose ends. As we clean up the yard from the winter debris, we also need to rid ourselves of those things that are useless and unnecessary.
Its getting us ready for a fruitful life in the months ahead. Yep, its a big job, sometimes overwhelming. Just do a little everyday. With the Earth's fertility at its peak, magical success rates skyrock and efforts manifest in record time.
Spring .. time of 'new growth' and 'rebirth' .. The new moon of Aires is also happening today.. which will lead us into the 'Growing Moon' of April.
Happy Spring.! Out with the old and in with the refreshing new.!
~ next time
