Introduction to Natural Perfumery Workshop
~
A Special Thanks !!
This weekend we at SunRose hosted our first
workshop, Introduction to Natural Perfumery Level 1.
It was a joy to meet everyone who attended this
class.
They traveled here from Texas, Canada, Mass, and
the Tri-state area!!
The spirit of camaraderie and excitement of working
with these natural materials and sharing our common
passion was so profoundly evident. Thank you all, for
sharing this day with us.
To my brilliant assistants, Adrienne and Sheila for
making the day seem effortless. I am so very blessed
indeed to have such capable and enthusiastic help in
everything we do at SunRose.
But most of all. An especially heartfelt "Thank you"
to Gail Adrian, who shared with us her encyclopedic
knowledge and profound passion for these wonderful
natural materials.
Gail has an amazing ability to imbue the art of
perfumery with esoteric and spiritual depth and
meaning, and at the same time remain fully engaged
in the sensual, physical experience.
From my heart to your heart..
thank you Gail!
This is the first in a series of classes under
development here at SunRose. Watch this page for
breaking news.
This & That ~
From the Cookson's Market Update:
* IFEAT: There will be a very large turn out for the
Lisbon conference starting on October 24th.
We are advised that 80% of the trees were
destroyed/damaged by the hurricanes. It may take
6 - 7 years for the new plants to produce. Relief for
those left homeless is the main priority at the
moment.
Florida Citrus Oils:
Grapefruit was the hardest hit. Though Texas and
California also produce grapefruit (the latest crop
estimates remain basically unchanged) but only very
limited quantities are destined for processing.
Orange Oil: The first post hurricane USDA crop
forecast was issued. Florida orange production is
now estimated at 176 million boxes (down from an
original prediction of 240 million).

When I read these reports, it always strikes me how
we forget how precious our natural resources are.
That song.. 'What a difference a day makes' .. rings
true. Natural disasters such as the hurricanes or fires
can wipe out crops that will take years to make a
come back. And sometimes, they are lost forever.
Which makes the natural materials that I love all the
more precious to me.
The days are getting shorter, the wind is kicking up
and the 'nip is in the air'. It is fireplace time .. so
primal, and cozy evening curled up on the couch
reading a good book or watching a good movie.
A soft relaxing blend in the diffuser .. a time to
reflect .. for the many blessings we have in life.
