A tonic to tired, sore, chapped, calloused feet. This cream may also be applied to insect bites, or other areas of the body that can tolerate the icy-hot sensation of peppermint.

    Recipe yields 22+ oz. cream

    Cream Base:
    Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Shea butter
  • 2 oz. jojoba oil
  • 2 oz. fractionated coconut oil
  • 1 TBS Calendula infused oil
  • 1 TBS evening primrose oil
  • 1 TBS Rosehip seed oil
  • 10 ml Lemon-Ice essential oil blend (see below)

    Essential Oil blend:
    Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 tsp. lemon - organic
  • 3/4 tsp. tea tree
  • 1/4 tsp. myrrh
  • 1/4 tsp. rosemary
  • 1/8 tsp. peppermint - organic
  • 1/8 tsp. carrot seed

    Directions:
Make essential oil blend at least 3 - 5 days ahead of time.

Place Shea butter in large bowl and, using the back of a large spoon, mash until it breaks down; slowly add all other ingredients to Shea butter and mix until oils are well blended.

For extra creaminess: use a mixer (blend for about 15 - 20 minutes) or a food processor (blend for 5 minutes).

Pour into desired containers and allow mixture 1 - 2 days to set up. For quicker set up, place in refrigerator several hours.

    Method of use:
Begin with a very small amount, (about the size of a pea), work in between fingertips until cream is pliable, apply to desired area. Repeat as necessary. Use 1 - 2 times daily, depending on severity of problem.

    Shea Butter Soap Base
This recipe was contributed by Anastasia Crabtree of Anastasia's Ideas.

Try this new blend for a soap base:

  • 32oz. coconut oil
  • 40oz. Shea butter - the refined natural with Vit E makes a very white, luscious bar of soap
  • 10.47oz. lye
  • 27oz. water (the good stuff)

Disclaimer: Follow all standard soapmaking safety procedures. If you are unfamiliar with the safety procedures required when making cold process soap, we highly recommend purchasing a soapmaking book or taking a class before attempting any recipe. Always double check the lye amount of any printed recipe.

Temps should be at 90 to 100 for fats and lye water
Melt your fats in a big stainless steel pot nice a slow ..on low..
When your lye mixture is cool enough you can add it to the fats.
Stir this mixture until you get a very thick and creamy looking batter.
    Now, add your scent.

    Shea Butter Soother
First ~ I make my blend and let it marry for a few days:

This recipe is for a 16 oz- Shea Soother Blend.

    Base of:
6 oz- Calendula Infused in Sunflower Oil
    4 oz - Jojoba
    4 oz - Evening Primrose
    1 oz - Rosehip Seed

    To this base add:
    Essential Oils of ~
    20 ml - Geranium Bourbon
10 ml - Chamomile Roman Organic
    5 ml - Celery Seed
    5 ml - Carrot Seed
    2 drp - Vitamin E

I like the oils to sit and marry at least 3 - 5 days.

Finally, I have gotten a Kitchen Aid and oh boy, what a difference in time and texture of the cream.

When you're ready to make the cream place:

    1 lb - Shea butter
    4 oz - Babassu
1/3 cup of Shea Soother Blend (here you have to see if you need to add a bit more .. use your judgment)

I then crank up the Kitchen Aid to Whip and let it go for at least 20 - 30 minutes.

Now I know some folks like to heat up the Shea, but personally, I do not, nor do I add water ever to my creams.

    This batch makes approximately:
    17 - 4 oz jars
    20 - samples

This cream was formulated because a dear family friend had broken an ankle which resulted in pins/rod/cast for 8 wks. He is also a diabetic. When the cast was removed his skin was really bad, very red, raw and tender.

The above blend was created to help the skin heal. To assist in adding tone and elasticity to the skin. It helped to decrease the puffiness and redness and strengthens the tissue.

He was very very pleased and used it every day. His comments were that is was soothing as well as helped his skin heal quicker than ever. The redness was gone almost entirely after 1 application.
